November Quiz Answers
The answers from the Quiz in November are below:

Question 1
At the end of a tight game, a striker bursts into the box but his touch is to heavy – the ball is clearly running over the goal line. Just before it crosses the line, a defender, in a rush to get on with the game, picks it up and tosses it back to the keeper. What do you do now?
The defender cannot assume what is about to happen: he has handled the ball while it is still live. It may seem harsh, but the law is clear: you must show him the yellow card for unsporting behaviour and award a penalty.

Question 2
A striker goes down in the box but you wave play on. As the balled is cleared up field, you blow for full time – but then you see your assistant flagging for a penalty. He tells you he started flagging before you blew. What now?
Once you have terminated a game, you cannot reverse a previous decision, or resume play: that is clear in law. Besides which, you saw
the incident, decided there was no offence and played on – and it is your judgment, ultimately, which counts.

Question 3
In wet, muddy conditions, the home keeper has been using a towel to dry his gloves. But a lobbed shot catches him out: still holding the towel, he dives and tips the ball behind to safety. What now?
If you judge that the towel has aided the save, show the keeper a yellow card for unsporting behaviour and restart with an indirect free-kick on the six-yard line. The keeper's unfair action has denied an obvious goal, but it is not a red card because keepers are allowed to handle the ball inside their own penalty area.
